Day 1: Barcelona
Arriving at Barcelona's International Airport collect your luggage and make your way to your hotel in central Barcelona for check-in and overnight accommodation. The remainder of the day is free to begin your exploration of this cosmopolitan city.
Day 2 & 3: Barcelona
With a 48-hour Hop-on/Hop-off Tour ticket which is included you can visit Barcelona at your own pace and in no hurry, the double-decker tourist bus is your finest option! You can get on and off all day long, with the same ticket, you can change route and learn about the history of the city through a comfortable audio system with earphones, in 12 different languages. We present a map and guide with all the stops of each of the routes, and discounts for different establishments in the city. The new buses are adapted for people with limited mobility and have an electric roof for use in the event of rain; they are fitted with anatomical seats and heating on both decks. They also have a stewardess aboard permanently. Now there are 2 routes: East and West. Frequency of buses at the stops varies depending on the season (between 8 and 15 minutes) and each route takes approximately 2 hours. (B)
Day 4: Montserrat
Set off this morning, after breakfast, for an excursion to Montserrat. After driving through picturesque little villages you will arrive at the incomparable setting of the mountain of Montserrat, which rises majestically to 4,051 feet (1,235 meters). Next, visit the Royal Basilica of Montserrat, which holds the famous 12th Century Romanesque carving of Virgen Moreneta, the Black Virgin. The Royal Basilica has been one of the most important pilgrimage sites in Spain for hundreds of years. On some days the children's choir sings in the monastery at midday, and so you may be fortunate enough to catch one of their delightful performances. Your tour includes a tasting of 4 typical liquors of Montserrat plus entrance free to Audiovisual "Montserrat Portes Endins". Return to Barcelona mid-afternoon for free time and overnight accommodation. (B)
Day 5: Barcelona
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at your hotel before continuing your discovery of this city at your own pace. Perhaps stroll the world famous Las Ramblas and enjoy its numerous street performers, shopping for souvenirs or combine shopping with culture at the lesser known Barri Gotic.(B)
Day 6: Tapas Evening
Enjoy breakfast at hotel and a full day at leisure to spend as you please. Tonight get a taste of Spain's fundamental flavours as you discover some of Barcelona's favorite foodie haunts during this unique small group walking tour, and join us for an evening of good food, good wine, conversation and fun! Spend an evening strolling along the historic streets of Barcelona with a knowledgeable guide, while tasting Spanish wines and culinary treasures. Go where the locals go, eat what the locals eat and have fun while learning about the culture & cuisine. Located just off of la Rambla street, on the site where an open-air market has existed since the 13th century, the world-famous Boqueria market is surely Barcelona’s greatest food market. Here you can admire the incredible contrast between colours and activity, ideal to discover why Mediterranean cuisine is internationally known due to its ingredients. Off you go to the gothic quarter, where you will discover an architecture, atmosphere, language and gastronomy that are unique in Spain... and some of the gourmet shops that are over 100 years old. En route to the gothic quarter we will stop at a Basque tapas Bar. Our last stop will be a restaurant situated in Barcelona’s city centre and featuring a wide selection of delectable tapas. (B)
Day 7: Barcelona
Today marks the end of your tour. Following breakfast at your hotel, make your way to the airport to board your return flight to Canada. (B)
