During this tour you will visit the German Emperors' former coronation city of Frankfurt, now a modern European banking centre, and the historic university town of Heidelberg with its not-to-be-missed castle. Then follow along the Rhine River toward Cologne, Germany's oldest City and home to its most-visited building, the Cologne Cathedral, before finally reaching Hamburg, traditional member of the medieval Hanseatic League.

Day 1 Frankfurt


Upon arrival at Frankfurt airport you will be met and transferred to your hotel by private car. After check-in you are free to relax or explore Frankfurt on your own.

Day 2 Frankfurt | Heidelberg


This morning enjoy exploring the city of Frankfurt on your own with the Hop-on/Hop-off coach service visiting the many important historic sights of the former Coronation city of the German Emperors and the modern European Banking Centre including Roemer Square, old Sachsenhausen district and Goethe House. In the afternoon board a first class train to Heidelberg. Nestled on the Neckar River, this charming city is home to Germany's oldest university and the famous Heidelberg Castle. Upon arrival make your own way to your centrally located hotel. (B)

Day 3 Heidelberg


The whole day is yours to explore the sights of this historical city. We suggest you rent one of the handheld multi-media iGuides for an informative and entertaining tour through the ages. The tour covers a total of 34 sights, including the famous Castle, the Old Bridge and the University. The iGuide also illustrates the conversation with 350 photos. (B)

Day 4 Heidelberg | Cologne


This morning board a first class train to Cologne. Upon arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel by private car. After check-in enjoy a Hop-on/Hop-off city tour of Cologne. You can stay on the bus for an orientation tour or hop-on/hop-off at 13 different landmarks designing your own individual journey though Cologne's main sites. The afternoon is free to enjoy you please. (B)

Day 5 Cologne


Today enjoy a one hour Rhine River cruise with splendid views of the Rhine Valley and Cologne Skyline. Remainder of the day is free to relax or continue exploring Cologne on your own. Perhaps you wish to include some shopping or a visit to one of Cologne's many art galleries. (B)

Day 6 Cologne | Hamburg


After breakfast make your way to the rail station to board a first class train to Hamburg. Upon arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel for check-in. The remainder of the day is at leisure. (B)

Day 7 Hamburg


Today a city tour will acquaint you with the main attractions of Hamburg, a City State and traditional member of the medieval Hanseatic League. See the St. Michel Church, City Hall, the Old Town, historic Peterstreet, St. Pauli and Reeperbahn entertainment districts, famous "Jungfernstieg" and discover the singular charm of the Alster Lakes with its canals. The remainder of the day is yours to spend as you please. (B)

Day 8 Hamburg


Today marks the end of your tour. At the appropriate time make your way to the airport for your return flight or ask your travel agent about extending your vacation with CIT Tours. (B)
