Combine the Majestic History of Rome with the Romance & Beauty of the Amalfi Coast. Soak up history and magnificently beautiful vistas as you visit Pompeii, Naples, Sorrento, the Isle of Capri, safely travel the cliff-side Amalfi Coast Road then return to Rome to experience again the historical wonders of this magnificent city.

Day 1 Rome


Upon your arrival at Rome Airport a private car transfer will take you to your hotel. After checking in you are free to relax or explore Rome on your own.

Day 2 Rome


This morning enjoy a city tour which includes a visit to some of the best known monuments of Rome. Accompanied by our local guide you’ll take a stroll through the historical centre to admire the Trevi Fountain, visit inside the Pantheon and see the Colonna of Marco Aurelio. Your tour will take you to the Basilica of St. Peter (visit inside except when there are religious celebrations), here you can admire many world-famous masterpieces including Michelangelo’s magnificent works of art, "La Pieta". Return to your hotel or remain inside St. Peter’s, the choice is yours. The remainder of the day is free to pass as you choose. (B)

Day 3 Rome | Naples | Pompeii | Sorrento


Autostrada del Sol to Naples, enjoying picturesque views of the hill-top Abbey of Montecassino and admiring the changing countryside vistas along the way. A short panoramic tour will introduce you to the most important sites of Naples, before continuing to Pompeii where you will enjoy lunch at a typical local restaurant. Then it’s time for a guided visit of this famous archaeological site and learn about the ancient way of life in this prosperous city before the devastation caused by the volcanic eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in 79 CE. Later in the afternoon you’ll arrive at your hotel in Sorrento. Dinner this evening will be at your hotel. (B.L.D)

Day 4 Sorrento


Today is yours to spend as you wish in Sorrento, the jewel of the Sorrentine peninsula that is famous for the cultivation of oranges, lemon, and olive trees. Explore the town’s narrow streets or sit and enjoy a cappuccino and watch the world go by, or perhaps do some shopping in the unspoiled old quarter, a lively main shopping street. Dinner this evening will be at your hotel. (B.D)

Day 5 Sorrento | Capri | Rome


Bay of Naples to reach this charming island set in turquoise waters, and, weather permitting, a enjoy visit to the Blue Grotto. Spend your day strolling the charming squares lined with cafes before savouring lunch in a typical restaurant. A visit to Augustus’ Gardens to view the Faraglioni is a must-do as is watching the world pass you by while sitting in Capri’s Piazzetta with a glass of wine or the local favourite, limoncella. In the late afternoon depart Capri sailing back to the mainland and begin your return journey to Rome. An arrival around 9:30 in the evening is planned. Check-in at your Rome hotel and perhaps enjoy a final stroll through the historic streets. (B.L)

Day 6 Rome


Today marks the end of your Rome & Sorrento tour. At a time to suit your departing flight, a private transfer will take you from your hotel to Rome airport for your return flight. Or, ask your travel agent about extending your vacation with CIT Tours. (B)
