Journey to the top of Europe on this 6-day rail tour experiencing some of the most magnificent mountain & breathtaking lake vistas in Europe. Travel to a height of 2,100 metres onboard the world’s steepest cog railway, then leave the Alpine landscape behind as you journey by the Golden Pass Line to Lake Geneva & the Swiss Riviera.

Day 1: Zurich | Lucerne

Your Swiss Mountain & Golden Pass line tour begins with a transfer from your Zurich hotel or the airport to Zurich railway station where you'll board a train to Lucerne. Sit back and admire the beautiful landscape from the panoramic windows of your carriage. Upon arrival in Lucerne, make your way to your centrally located hotel for check-in. The remainder of the day is yours to explore Lucerne, one of the most beautiful cities in Switzerland, as you please. Make sure to visit its famous medieval bridge and the historic city centre with its colourful facades.
Overnight accommodation in Lucerne:  3* Hotel Waldstätterhof, Hotel Drei Könige (or similar);  4* Continental Park, Ameron Hotel Flora (or similar)

Day 2: Lucerne | Mount Pilatus | Lucerne

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel before travelling aboard the steepest cog railway in the world (up to 48% grade) on a 30-minute ride to the top of Mount Pilatus **. Standing approximately 2.100 meters above sea level, Mount Pilatus is one of the highest peaks in the Lucerne region. Enjoy the views of Lake Lucerne and the Alps, which are truly spectacular, before returning to Lucerne. The afternoon is at leisure to explore on your own. (B)

Day 3: Lucerne | Golden Pass Line | Interlaken

Breakfast at hotel. Departing Lucerne abroad The Golden Pass Line, travel for approximately two hours through the stunning Swiss countryside to Interlaken. Nestled between Thun Lake and Brienz Lake, Interlaken is a pleasant city that makes the perfect starting point to explore the nearby mountains, including world-famous peaks such as Eiger, Mönch & Jungfrau. Your hotel is located only a short walk from the station. The rest of the day is free to explore on your own & enjoy the ambience of the city. (B)

Day 4: Interlaken | Jungfraujoch | Interlaken

Today travel to the top of Europe! Jungfraujoch offers a year-round winter wonderland of snow and ice. Built in 1912, the train travels approximately 9 kilometres high up into the mountains, crossing a tunnel through Mount Eiger. Disembarking at the highest train station in Europe, at an elevation of 3.454 metres, you'll be amazed by the breathtaking views of the Aletsch Glacier and the Bernese Oberland (Bernese highland). Return to Interlaken and enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure. (B)

Day 5 : Interlaken | Golden Pass Line | Montreux

Following breakfast at your hotel, make your way to the railway station. Leave the Alpine landscape of the Bernese Oberland behind and travel by Golden Pass line to the Swiss Riviera. The city of Montreux is world-renowned for its jazz festival and beautiful setting on Lake Geneva. A short walk will take you from the railway station to your centrally located hotel. Check-in and then head out again to enjoy a leisurely stroll along Montreux’s pleasant lakeside boulevard. (B)

Day 6: Montreux | Zurich

Enjoy a leisurely morning for a final stroll through Montreux. Around noon, board a train for your return journey to Zurich where the tour ends. Or ask about extending your Swiss vacation with a city stay in Zurich. (B)
