Discover the “City of the Three Cultures”. Located 70 km away from Madrid is Toledo, one of the oldest towns in Europe of great artistic beauty and with buildings from almost all periods in history (Arabian, Gothic, Mudéjar, Renaissance and Baroque style). Toledo is called the “City of the Three Cultures” since Christians, Muslims, and Jews lived together. In the XVI century, it was also home to the great painter El Greco, and this morning join a half-day tour to the beautiful city of Toledo. Traveling onboard a comfortable air-conditioned coach, arrive in Toledo and dive into its history and discover a perfect mix of Arab, Jewish and Christian cultures. Wander around its Old Town, declared a World Heritage City in 1986. The more than 2000 years of existence have given the city huge historical importance. Did you know it once was the capital of Spain? Get to learn about the city's fantastic heritage and discover how the coexistence of the three cultures throughout the centuries influenced its current architectural style. Follow your guide through the city's cobbled streets until you reach the Cathedral. Built on the remains of an Arab mosque, its construction started in the 13th century. Today, it is one of the most important Gothic cathedrals of Spain. Admire the magnificent façade and the huge bell tower before enjoying an interior visit to the cathedral and the sacristy, full of masterpieces of the former art museum it was. Among them, you'll see fifteen paintings by El Greco. At the end of the guided tour, you will have some free time to enjoy the city at your own pace before returning to Madrid. This bilingual tour (English & Spanish) has a duration of approximately 5 hours. Comfortable shoes are recommended.
