Switzerland is world-renown for its excellent cheeses and fine chocolates. On this 5-day independent rail tour, you will delight your palate during visits to a cheese and a chocolate factory, travel onboard the famous Chocolate Panoramic Train, and enjoy a delicious cheese fondue at a traditional restaurant in Geneva!

Day 1: Zurich | Geneva

Your Swiss Cheese & Chocolate rail tour begins with a transfer from your Zurich hotel or the airport to Zurich railway station where you'll board a train to Geneva. In just under 3 hours you arrive in Geneva where a private transfer will take you to your hotel. After checking in, you are free to start exploring this beautiful city.
Overnight accommodation in Geneva:  3* Hotel Strasbourg (or similar);  4* Hotel Montbrilliant (or similar)

Day 2: Geneva | Montreux

After breakfast at the hotel, enjoy a city tour on foot through downtown Geneva. This 2-hour guided walking tour will take you to visit the international neighborhoods of Geneva and the main tourist attractions of the city, such as the beautiful fountain of Lake Geneva (Jet d'Eau) and the wonderful Flower Clock. After the tour has ended, you will be treated to a cheese fondue in a typical Swiss restaurant, accompanied by a glass of wine, water, or a carbonated drink. In the afternoon, you will be transferred from your hotel to Geneva's central station and then travel by rail along the impressive Lake Léman to Montreux. Located on the shores of Lake Léman, the beautiful city of Montreux is known worldwide for its Jazz music festival. Upon arrival in Montreux, make your own way to your hotel and enjoy the evening as you please. (B.L)

Day 3: Montreux | Chocolate Train to Gruyére | Montreux

What a special day awaits you today! The adventure begins with a journey onboard the famous Chocolate Train travelling along the breathtaking scenic rail route from Montreux to Monbovon. From Monbovon the journey continues by bus to the cheese factory "La Maison du Gruyère", where you will learn all about the production of the famous Gruyères cheese. Afterward, you will visit the medieval city of Gruyères with its well-preserved castle. Next, we continue by bus to the legendary "Maison Cailler" in Broc, where you will be introduced to the secrets of chocolate making and enjoy a chocolate tasting. In the later afternoon, return by bus to Montreux. (B)

Day 4: Montreux | Golden Pass Line | Interlaken | Lucerne

After breakfast, you will leave the Swiss Riviera behind and ride aboard the Golded Pass Train through the alpine world of the Bernese Oberland. Traveling via Zweisimmen and Interlaken, enjoy the spectacular views of the Swiss landscape with its numerous lakes and mountains on the journey to Lucerne. With the Rigi and Pilatus mountains and the Alps as a backdrop, Lucerne is one of the most visited tourist destinations in Switzerland and the remainder of today is free to explore this charming city on your own. Day 5: Lucerne | Chocolatier Aeschbach | Zurich

In the morning, you'll visit the "World of Chocolate" in the village of Root with a local guide. The "World of Chocolate" is only 10 minutes away from Lucerne by train and in the course of about 1.5 hours you will learn everything about the subject of chocolate and in the end, you can prepare your own chocolate bar. After this sweet experience, board a train back to Zurich where your railtour tour ends. (B)
