Get a unique glimpse of the fascinating & authentic Lisbon, experiencing off-the-beaten-track neighborhoods and sampling traditional Portuguese foods along the way. Learn about the roots of the expressive Fado music and enjoy wine tasting at two of Portugal's oldest wine cellars in Azeitão. The flavours of Portugal are here to be discovered!

Day 1: Lisbon

Bemvindo a Portugal! Arriving at Lisbon Airport, collect your luggage and clear customs and make your way to your selected Lisbon hotel. For added convenience, an optional private transfer is available on request. Once you have checked into your hotel, the remainder of the day is free to start exploring Lisbon on your own. 

Day 2: Lisbon's Roots, Food & Culture Walk

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel and the morning at leisure to enjoy as you chose. This afternoon's Lisbon Roots, Food & Cultural Walk is an immersive walking tour that will take you off the beaten track to get a unique glimpse of the fascinating historical Lisbon and its most iconic food. Leading you through two ancient neighborhoods, Mouraria and Downtown in the heart of old Lisbon, you will go further into the local history, the Fado song roots, the architecture, and the city culture, while you discover hidden Portuguese food treasures. During this small-group tour, you will be introduced to spots that locals go to every day, away from the crowded and touristy areas, sampling 10 typical Portuguese foods along the way. (B)

Day 3: Sesimbra, Azeitão & Arrábida with Wine tasting

A full-day small-group tour through Serra da Arrábida to Sesimbra, Azeitão and Setúbal is planned for today. This tour offers the opportunity to discover the amazing breathtaking views of Arrábida, idyllic beaches & interesting fishing villages plus visit a winery and with wine tasting included. Leaving Lisbon by 25th April Bridge where you will enjoy a panoramic overview of the Tagus River, Lisbon and "Cristo Rei". The first stop is in the fishing village of Sesimbra with its beautiful sandy beach. We then proceed to Azeitão, where you will visit two of the oldest wine cellars in Portugal and taste some of their wines. Afterwards, you will have a chance to take some photos from the highest point of Arrabida, offering breathtaking views over the Atlantic Ocean, wonderful beaches and Troia village. There will be free time for lunch on your own (not included) before continuing to the quaint fishing village of Setúbal, with is Fort of São Filipe, a 14th-century construction built to control the entrance through the Sado River. Finally, we will return to Lisbon through the Vasco da Gama bridge. (B)

Day 4: Lisbon by Night

Today you are free to explore Portugal’s beautiful capital city as you choose. Consider visiting the Tower of Belém, the Monument of Discoveries, and the Jerónimos Monastery, or head up to the magnificent St. George’s Castle to admire the views over the historic old town and the Tagus River. Then tonight, you'll experience Lisbon like a local, and learn about its unique culture and how the Fado music was born during a small-group evening sightseeing tour. Fado music today is World Heritage and you'll enjoy a traditional Portuguese dinner while listening to a performance of Fado songs telling stories about lost love and 'saudade', a feeling of longing that can`t be explained or translated but can be expressed in music and must be heard in silence. This unforgettable evening ends with a panoramic drive through the illuminated streets and past the major attractions of Lisbon. (B.D)

Day 5: Lisbon

Enjoy a final breakfast at your hotel before making your way to the airport to begin your onward journey. (B)
