Enjoy a 10-day independent rail tour travelling through Germany visiting its many historic, architectural & natural wonders. From Berlin, in the north, you'll travel south through historic Dresden to Munich and the amazing Neuschwanstein Castle. You will discover some of Germany's most fascinating cities and admire the charming countryside from the comfort of your train carriage.

Day 1: Berlin

Willkommen in Deutschland! Upon arrival at Berlin airport, collect your luggage and make your way to your centrally located hotel. Once you have checked in, spend the remainder of the day free to relax or start exploring Germany's bustling capital city on your own.

Day 2: Berlin

Today take advantage of your Hop-on Hop-off pass to visit some of Berlin's attractions at your own pace. You can stay on the bus for a full circle for an orientation tour of Berlin or hop on & off at 20 different landmarks all around the city at your leisure, including Alexander Square, Checkpoint Charlie, Berlin Cathedral, the famous Brandenburger Gate, the Reichstag, Bellevue Castle, Charlottenburg Palace and the Kurfürstendamm, Berlin's liveliest avenue with numerous shops, restaurants, hotels and the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church. Day 3: Berlin - Potsdam & Sanssouci Palace

This morning depart on a half-day tour to Potsdam, a city steeped in history and famous for its cultural, artistic & architectural treasures. Accompanied by an English-German speaking tour guide, enjoy a panoramic tour featuring the historic Townhall, the Russian Colony “Alexandrowka” and the “Holländisches Viertel” (Dutch Quarter). Enjoy a stroll through the beautiful gardens of the Sanssouci Palace, then admire its elegantly decorated rooms during a tour of this famous building with an audio-guide. There is no shortage of palaces in this lovely town and on the way you may also see the New Palace, the Historic Windmill, Charlottenhof Palace, the Roman Baths and the Orangery Palace. Return to Berlin and the afternoon is free to spend as you please. (B)

Day 4: Berlin to Dresden

Today you travel from Berlin to Dresden. Transfer independently to Berlin's central railway station to board a high-speed train to Dresden where you'll make your way to your hotel before this evening's Hop-on Hop-off city tour. The old town of Dresden, with its magnificent silhouette of numerous towers and domes, displays a special magic in the evening with illuminated buildings and bridges across the Elbe.  (B)

Day 5: Dresden

A day full of culture and art waits for you. With your 2-day “Dresden City Card & Dresden Museums Card” you can travel on all public transport within the zone of Dresden and enjoy free admission to 14 exhibitions in the city, including the famous "Neues Grünes Gewölbe Museum" and the "Gemäldegalerie Alte Meister" art gallery. Your card also includes discounts for tourist & cultural attractions such as a concert at the Church of our Lady (Frauenkirche). (B)

Day 6: Dresden - Pillnitz Palace

Travel by train to Meissen, the first town where porcelain was made in Europe and visit the famous Meissen’s Porcelain factory. Here you can embark on a journey through 300 years of porcelain history and get up close to works of art from the past and present. In the afternoon explore the historical centre of Meissen and the 15th-century Albrechtsburg Castle, towering majestically over the city and the scenic Elbe River Valley, before returning to Dresden by train. (B)

Day 7: Dresden to Munich

Today's journey takes you by train south to Munich, Bavaria's capital city and home to centuries-old buildings and numerous museums. Make your way to the railway station in Dresden and then sit back and enjoy the ever-changing scenery as you travel by high-speed train to Munich's central station where you'll find your centrally located hotel is only a short walk away. After checking in, the remainder of the day is yours to start exploring this lively city. (B)

Day 8: Munich

Following breakfast at your hotel head out to explore this most charming city. A Hop-on Hop-off city tour invites you to discover Munich's major sights and monuments, such as the Pinakothek Art Museums, the National Theatre with the Royal Palace, Marienplatz Square, world-famous Hofbräuhaus and the Viktualien market with its colourful outdoor stalls.  (B)       

Day 9: Munich - Neuschwanstein & Linderhof Castles

Today enjoy a full-day excursion to visit Bavaria's Royal Castles. Sitting majestically on top of a rugged hill, Neuschwanstein is perhaps the best-known castle in the world. It was built in the 19th century as a private refuge for King Ludwig II, Bavaria's fairytale King, while the smaller French-Rococo style Linderhof Castle served as his hunting lodge and is the only one where the king actually lived for a significant period of time. During this tour, you will visit these two architectural gems and also enjoy a short stop in Oberammergau, the picturesque village internationally known for its Passion Play, wooden crafts & beautifully painted houses. Return to Munich in the afternoon for your evening. (B)

Day 10: Munich

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at your hotel and, at a time to suit your departing flight, make your own way to the airport to begin your journey home. Auf Wiedersehen! (B)
