Day 1: Frankfurt

Willkommen in Deutschland! Arriving at the airport in Frankfurt, pick up your rental car and make your way to your Frankfurt hotel. Check-in and then perhaps set out to discover this bustling metropolis on your own. Frankfurt is the financial and commercial heart of Germany, a city full of fascinating contrasts between modern development and historic landmarks.

Day 2: Frankfurt | Rüdesheim | Frankfurt

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel and then make your way to Rüdesheim, located on the Rhine River in one of the most beautiful wine regions in Germany. Stroll among the half-timbered buildings of Rüdesheim's charming old town, sample some local wine, or perhaps board one of the sightseeing boats for a cruise along the most picturesque stretch of the Rhine: the Loreley Valley. Return to your hotel in Frankfurt. (B)

Day 3: Frankfurt | Heidelberg | Baden-Baden | Freiburg

After breakfast, check out of your hotel head off towards Heidelberg. Idyllically located on the shores of the Neckar River, Heidelberg is Germany’s oldest university town and one of the most popular destinations in the country. Travel on to Baden-Baden, the former summer residence of the European nobility and renowned worldwide for its thermal baths, sumptuous buildings & elegant tree-lined avenues. Then continue on to the lovely city of Freiburg, famous for its beautiful church tower and your final destination for today. (B)

Day 4: Freiburg | Colmar | Strasbourg | Freiburg

The Rhine River forms the natural border between Germany and France and today you'll make your way across the river to arrive in Colmar. Spend some time exploring this charming city famous for its outstanding wines and architectural heritage that reflect the long history of this region and its German & French influences. A short drive north will take you to Strasbourg, a city rich in architectural & cultural heritage. Being the base of several European institutions, Strasbourg is also the symbolic capital of Europe. Return to your hotel in Freiburg. (B)

Day 5: Freiburg | Lindau | Füssen

After breakfast, drive to Germany's fabled Black Forest region that is sure to enchant you with its magical landscapes, picturesque towns, and of course famous cuckoo clocks. Continue to the small island of Lindau in Lake Constance which boasts spectacular views of the Alps. Depending on weather conditions, take the Alpine road from Lindau to Oberstaufen and Immenstadt to your final destination, Füssen, the southernmost point on your tour of Romantic Germany. (B)

Day 6: Füssen | Neuschwanstein | Wieskirche | Oberammergau | Linderhof | Füssen

No visit to this area of Germany would be complete without a visit to Neuschwanstein Castle built by Ludwig II, the notorious “Mad King“, and we suggest that you take the opportunity to visit it this morning. In the afternoon drive to Oberammergau, famous for its Passion Play and lovely crafts. Along the way, you can visit the Wieskirche Church and take a brief stop at the Ettal Benedictine Abbey before continuing to Linderhof Castle. One of the 3 castles built by King Ludwig II, Linderhof Castle is the only one where he actually lived for a significant amount of time, and it is well worth a visit. Return to your hotel on Füssen for a well deserved rest. (B)

Day 7: Füssen | Munich

In the morning travel to Munich, and spend the remainder of the day exploring the bustling capital of Bavaria. Make sure to visit the Marienplatz square with its famous clock tower, the world-famous Hofbrähaus, and the Viktualien market with its colourful outdoor stalls. Or perhaps book an optional city tour featuring the city's main attractions. (B)
